Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, on Monday said that the state had through visionary leadership over the years, evolved from being an administrative unit into a state that boast of developmental strides and infrastructures that make it one of the fastest developing states in Nigeria.

Yahaya stated this in Gombe on the occasion of the signing into Law, the Bill for the creation of 13 Local Council Development Areas in Gombe State.

Yahaya said that Gombe State had made significant progress from what it was in some three decades ago and this feat he attributed to the efforts of successive administrations in the state since the state’s creation from Gombe Division under the defunct Bauchi State.

He said that the creation of Gombe State had brought governance closer to the people and created more opportunities for the state to develop and provide improved services to its people.

According to him, if Gombe State had not been created and had remained under Bauchi State, it won’t be anywhere near its current state of development and progress.

“The Gombe Division of yesteryears – that administrative unit we once knew has evolved into the proud Gombe State that we govern today.

“Yet, let us be clear: the Gombe State of 2025 is not merely a renamed version of what existed three decades ago.

“Through concerted efforts by successive administrations over the last three decades, we have grown beyond recognition.

“We have transformed our infrastructure, expanded our opportunities, and elevated the lives of our people.

“The Gombe Division of the 1990s was but a seed – today’s Gombe is the mighty tree that has grown from that foundation, reaching the heights that our predecessors could only dream of.

“Our state has emerged as one of the fastest developing states in Nigeria. Today, Gombe stands as a shining example of what can be achieved through visionary leadership and collective effort,” he said.

On the created LCDAs, the governor said the feat marked the beginning of a new era, one that is characterised by more inclusive development, stronger grassroots governance, and greater opportunities for all Gombe people.

He said that the new LCDAs would usher in a period of development for the affected communities and the state at large.

According to him, the development that the LCDAs will bring to underserved communities, their deeper participation in democratic governance, the jobs they will create, and the improved access to services they will provide represent an investment in the people’s future that the state cannot afford to ignore.
