Tragedy in Borno: 4 Siblings Die Mysteriously, Parents Hospitalised
A quiet village in Borno State has been plunged into mourning following the mysterious deaths of four children from the same family in Kukurpu village, located in Kwajaffa District, Hawul Local Government Area.
The tragic incident occurred early Thursday morning when neighbours became alarmed after repeated calls to 35-year-old Muktari Idrisa, the head of the household, went unanswered.
According to reports, a concerned neighbour, Bukar Musa, managed to reach Idrisa’s wife, Maimuna, who disclosed in a distressed voice that the entire family was gravely ill and unable to move.
Neighbours rushed to the scene, only to find Muktari Idrisa, his wife, and their four children lying unconscious. Emergency services and security operatives were called in immediately.
Medical personnel later confirmed the heartbreaking news: all four children were dead on arrival. The children were identified as:
- Idrisa Muktari (male)
- Hauwa Muktari (female, 9 years)
- Binta Muktari (female, 6 years)
- Saidu Muktari (male, 1 year)
The parents were promptly hospitalised and are reportedly responding to treatment.
The cause of the tragic incident remains unknown. However, police authorities say that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Maiduguri has launched a full-scale investigation to determine what happened.
The bodies of the children have been released to relatives and laid to rest according to Islamic rites.
The devastating loss has left the Kukurpu community in shock, with residents mourning what many describe as one of the most harrowing events in recent memory.
