Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have successfully neutralised two suspected bandits in Nemaledu community, Gimbi District of Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, following an intelligence-led ambush.
The development was confirmed on Friday in Jos by Major Samson Zhakom, Media Officer of OPSH, in an official statement.
“Acting on a tip-off on the movement of bandits along Nemaledu community of Wase LGA, our troops laid an ambush at the crossing point of bandits in the area,” Zhakom said.
He explained that the troops made contact with the suspected criminals during the operation and engaged them in a brief firefight.
“During the operation, troops made contact with the bandits and neutralised two of them,” he stated, adding that a firearm was also recovered at the scene.
“Troops also recovered one fabricated AK-47 rifle from the neutralised bandits,” Zhakom added.
While commending the support of local residents, the OPSH media officer reiterated the commitment of security forces to flushing out criminal elements from Plateau and its environs.
He urged citizens to continue providing timely and credible information to aid security operations across the state.
