Security forces under Operation Enduring Peace have launched a manhunt for gunmen who assassinated a Fulani community leader, Alhaji Bilyaminu Julde, in Plateau State.

Julde, the Ardo of Gindiri in the Gashish area of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, was shot dead late on March 28 after unidentified assailants attacked his residence.

A security source said troops responded to reports of sporadic gunfire at about 11:45 p.m., but upon arrival discovered that the attackers had already fled the scene after carrying out the killing.

During a search of the area, operatives recovered two rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and 29 spent shells, indicating the شدت of the attack.

The remains of the deceased were subsequently released to his family for burial in line with Islamic and local traditions.

Authorities said investigations are ongoing, with troops intensifying patrols across the المنطقة and pursuing those responsible for the attack.

The killing adds to ongoing security concerns in parts of Plateau State, where communities have faced recurring incidents of violence.
