Troops Kill 21 Terrorists, Dismantle Insurgents’ Enclave in Katsina Offensive
Troops of Operation FANSAR YANMA have recorded a major breakthrough in Katsina State, neutralising 21 terrorists and dismantling a notorious insurgents’ enclave at Ruwan Godiya in a successful offensive carried out on Saturday, May 25.
According to intelligence sources who spoke to Zagazola Makama, the operation was conducted by the 17 Brigade Strike Group, beginning around 8:50 a.m. and lasting into the evening. The troops launched a well-coordinated assault on the terrorists’ hideout, engaging them in a fierce firefight that led to the destruction of the camp.
As the insurgents fled, they reportedly used their cattle as human shields to escape through bushy terrain and rocky hills. Some attempted to cross a nearby river but were overpowered. In the pursuit, troops destroyed the terrorists’ livestock and life-support infrastructure to cripple their operations.
Military sources confirmed that there were no casualties on the side of the Nigerian Army. The operation resulted in the neutralisation of 21 terrorists, including several who drowned while attempting to flee under heavy fire.
Recovered during the raid were a cache of weapons and equipment including:
