The Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other security agencies, has successfully neutralised terrorists, apprehended a notorious arms courier, and rescued several kidnapped victims in multiple operations across the country.

In a statement posted on its official X handle, the army revealed that the coordinated efforts, which took place in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno on Sept. 3, led to the dismantling of a terrorist stronghold in the Mandara Mountains. During the operation, 24 hostages were freed after a fierce firefight, while weapons and ammunition, including 11 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, an AK-47 rifle magazine, and a dane gun, were recovered.

In Kaduna State, troops dismantled a kidnappers’ den in Kabode village, Kachia Local Government Area, neutralising one criminal while others escaped. Four victims were rescued, and the military recovered an AK-47 rifle, 10 rounds of ammunition, six motorcycles, and three mobile phones.

Another operation in Keyeri Hills and Gidan Dogo, Kagarko Local Government Area, resulted in the capture of a terrorist arms courier transporting weapons for insurgents. Troops recovered a cache of arms, including three AK-47 rifles, a Galil rifle, over 1,980 rounds of various ammunition, and several magazines. Intelligence from the courier’s arrest led to the apprehension of eight additional suspects.

In Plateau State, troops raided a hideout in Riyom Local Government Area, arresting two suspects, while in Barikin Ladi, soldiers recovered 64 rustled cattle believed to have been stolen during the Mangu crisis earlier this year.

The Chief of Army Staff commended the troops for their resilience and ongoing collaboration with security agencies and local communities in the fight against terrorism and criminality.
