U.S. President Donald Trump has dismissed Air Force General Charles Brown as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, ending his tenure after 16 months. In his place, Trump has nominated Lieutenant General Dan Razin Kane, citing his extensive military experience and leadership credentials.

Trump expressed gratitude for Brown’s service, stating, “I would like to thank Gen. Charles Brown for his more than 40 years of service to our country, including his tenure as our current Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He is a distinguished leader and a true gentleman. I wish him and his family great success in the future.”

Announcing his decision, Trump praised Kane’s expertise in national security, joint operations, and special forces, highlighting his past role in combating ISIS. “Lieut. Gen. Kane is a seasoned pilot, a national security expert, and a battle-hardened leader with deep experience in joint and special operations,” Trump said.

The president credited Kane with leading the swift defeat of ISIS during his first administration, emphasizing that his leadership defied predictions from military analysts. Trump also criticized the previous administration, asserting that Kane had been overlooked under President Biden despite his qualifications.

Trump assured that, alongside Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Kane would work to rebuild the U.S. military and restore global stability through a strategy of “peace through strength.” The appointment marks a key shift in U.S. military leadership as Trump continues shaping defense policies in his second term.
