Trump Says Coca-Cola to Replace Corn Syrup with Cane Sugar in U.S. Products

U.S. President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that Coca-Cola has agreed to replace high-fructose corn syrup with real cane sugar in its American cola products—a move he hailed as a positive step for consumers.

“I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar in Coke in the United States, and they have agreed to do so,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. “This will be a very good move by them — You’ll see. It’s just better!”

Trump’s statement comes amid mounting health concerns raised by U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has criticized the use of corn syrup in beverages. Coca-Cola products sold in countries like Mexico, the United Kingdom, and Australia already use cane sugar as the primary sweetener.

Although Coca-Cola has not officially confirmed the change, the company responded to media inquiries by expressing appreciation for the president’s support and said updates on new product innovations will be announced soon.

The switch, if confirmed, would mark a significant shift in the U.S. beverage industry and potentially influence broader changes in soft drink formulations across the country.
