Trump Snubs Canada From ‘Board of Peace’ After Sharp Exchange With Carney

Former US President Donald Trump has withdrawn an invitation for Canada’s prime minister to join his self-styled “Board of Peace” following a sharp exchange between the two leaders.

Trump, who recently unveiled the body as a platform for resolving global conflicts, initially positioned it to focus on postwar Gaza. However, its expanding scope has raised concerns among observers that it could serve as a rival to the United Nations.

During the dispute, Trump claimed Canada’s survival depended on the United States, saying: “Canada lives because of the United States. Remember that, Mark, the next time you make your statements.”

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney responded forcefully on Thursday, rejecting the assertion. “Canada doesn’t live because of the United States. Canada thrives because we are Canadian,” he said, while still acknowledging what he described as a “remarkable partnership” between the two countries.

The exchange underscores rising tensions between Washington and Ottawa amid broader debates over Trump’s foreign policy initiatives and his proposed international mediation framework.
