U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that the United States could launch a major strike on Iran’s South Pars gas field if Tehran carries out further attacks on Qatar’s liquefied natural gas facilities.

In a post on his Truth Social platform on Thursday, Trump said Washington would respond with overwhelming force if Iran targets Qatar again, vowing to “blow up” the strategic gas field.

The warning follows rising tensions after reported attacks on gas infrastructure in Ras Laffan Industrial City, where Qatari authorities said Iranian strikes caused fires and significant damage. Doha described the incident as a serious escalation, condemning it as a violation of sovereignty and a threat to regional security.

Qatar also expelled Iranian military and security attachés, declaring them persona non grata and ordering their immediate departure.

Trump noted that recent strikes on Iran’s South Pars field were carried out by Israel, adding that neither the United States nor Qatar was involved. He further stated that Israel does not intend to carry out additional attacks on the facility.

The South Pars field, located off Iran’s southern coast, is the world’s largest natural gas reserve and a critical component of global energy supply.

The developments come amid intensifying conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, with escalating missile and drone strikes increasingly targeting energy infrastructure and key maritime routes across the region.

Recent Israeli airstrikes also hit gas and petrochemical facilities in Asaluyeh, in Iran’s Bushehr province, sparking fires and raising concerns over the vulnerability of critical energy assets.
