The U.S. military has confirmed the killing of a senior finance and logistics operative from Hurras al-Din, an Al-Qaeda affiliate, in northwestern Syria.
In a statement, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said its forces carried out a “precision airstrike” targeting the militant, as part of ongoing efforts to weaken terrorist networks involved in planning and executing attacks on civilians and military personnel.
Hurras al-Din, designated a terrorist organization by the U.S. in 2019, was also added to the European Union’s terror list in May 2022 due to its role in planning external attacks.
