A United Arab Emirates (UAE) delegation visited young Emirati patients receiving treatment at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) in London, delivering special Ramadan gifts to brighten their spirits.
Dr. Maha Barakat, Assistant Minister of Medical Affairs and Life Sciences at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led the visit, sharing warm wishes with the children and their families.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with all children for a prosperous and healthy future. We wish a speedy recovery to the brave young heroes we met today under the expert care of the Great Ormond Street Hospital team,” Dr. Barakat said.
The visit highlights the UAE’s long-standing support for GOSH, which was strengthened in 2014 through a ₤60 million donation from H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, known as the “Mother of the Nation.” This contribution helped establish the Zayed Centre for Research into Rare Disease in Children (ZCR), a leading facility dedicated to pioneering research and treatment for rare illnesses.
The ZCR operates in partnership with GOSH, University College London (UCL), and Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH Charity), fostering innovation in pediatric healthcare.
