Ukrainian Drone Strike Sparks Fire at Russian Factory Site Near Moscow
A Ukrainian drone attack on Wednesday ignited a fire at an industrial facility in Murom, a city located roughly 300 kilometres east of Moscow, Russian media and officials reported.
Russian Telegram channel Astra, citing local residents, claimed the strike targeted a factory involved in the production of ignition devices. However, the governor of the Vladimir region, Aleksandr Avdeyev, downplayed the incident, stating on Telegram that only a warehouse had caught fire.
According to Avdeyev, the fire — now extinguished — was triggered by falling drones. No casualties have been reported so far.
Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces shot down 34 Ukrainian drones overnight, including three over the Vladimir region, where Murom is located.
Ukraine has been defending itself against Russia’s full-scale invasion for more than three years, with significant backing from Western allies. In response, Kyiv has frequently carried out drone and missile strikes deep inside Russian territory, aiming at military and industrial targets.
While Ukrainian strikes have caused occasional damage, they remain limited compared to the widespread destruction and humanitarian toll of Russia’s ongoing war on Ukraine.
