The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has announced plans to hold elections to fill key representative positions on its Governing Council, Boards, and Committees.

Dr. Sam Kpenu, Head of Information, Publication, and Public Relations at the institution, disclosed this to journalists in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.

He stated that the elections, slated for April 17, will coincide with the university’s 77th Meeting of Congregation.

“The election, which marks the end of the four-year tenure of the current representatives, will take place during the university’s 77th Meeting of Congregation,” Kpenu said.

“The exercise will elect new Representatives of Congregation into the Governing Council, Boards, and Committees,” he added.

According to Kpenu, 16 different boards and committees will be involved in the election, including the Governing Council; Academic and Senior Professionals, Administrative and Technical Staff (SPAT); Capital/Procurement Committee, University Press, and the Health and Medical Services Advisory Board, among others.

He further revealed that a total of 32 representatives are expected to emerge from the elections, with positions spread across academic, administrative, and technical staff categories.
