US Distances Itself from Israeli Strikes, Warns Iran Against Targeting American Forces

The United States has issued a strong warning to Iran against retaliating by targeting American personnel or interests, following Israel’s overnight airstrikes on Iranian military and nuclear sites.

In an official statement, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio made it clear that Washington was not involved in the operation. “Tonight, Israel took unilateral action against Iran. We are not involved in strikes against Iran, and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region,” Rubio stated.

He noted that Israel had informed the US in advance, describing the military operation as a necessary act of self-defense. “President Donald Trump and his administration have taken all necessary steps to protect our forces and remain in close contact with our regional partners,” Rubio added. “Let me be clear: Iran should not target U.S. interests or personnel.”

The statement came after Israel launched a large-scale offensive targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and long-range missile capabilities. Israeli military sources said the airstrikes were preemptive, aimed at weakening Iran’s ability to threaten Israeli territory.

Dozens of Iranian sites were reportedly struck, including military installations and a residential district in Tehran housing senior commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Loud explosions echoed across the Iranian capital, with state media reporting fires and structural damage in several areas.

In the aftermath of the strikes, Israel declared a nationwide state of emergency, closed its airspace, and redirected all inbound flights. Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport also suspended operations as Iranian air defenses responded to the attacks.

With tensions escalating rapidly, intelligence assessments suggest Iran is preparing for a retaliatory strike, potentially involving missile launches against Israel. Regional security forces remain on high alert amid rising fears of a broader conflict.
