The US Postal Service (USPS) announced Wednesday that it has resumed accepting packages from China and Hong Kong following a temporary suspension.
In a statement, USPS confirmed that it will continue processing all international inbound mail and parcels from China and Hong Kong Posts.
The postal agency said it is working closely with Customs and Border Protection to implement a collection mechanism for new tariffs on Chinese goods while ensuring minimal disruption to package deliveries.
The development follows the USPS’s earlier decision to halt package acceptance after China announced retaliatory tariffs on US imports in response to President Donald Trump’s trade measures.
Beijing’s new tariffs, set to take effect Monday, include a 15% duty on coal and liquefied natural gas, along with a 10% tariff on crude oil, agricultural machinery, and large-engine vehicles from the US.
Trump, who previously imposed a 10% tariff on Chinese goods, stated that he plans to discuss trade issues with Chinese President Xi Jinping in the coming days.
