Veekee James Says Husband Can’t Have Female Best Friend

Fashion designer Veekee James has stated that her husband, Femi Atere, is not permitted to have a female best friend, describing the rule as a boundary that helps maintain peace in their marriage.

Speaking on the Off the Top podcast with VJ Adams, James said she believes she should be the closest woman to her husband. While she acknowledged that some men may have female best friends if their partners approve, she stressed that her own marriage operates differently.

“A man can have a female best friend, but my man, Femi Atere, can never have a female best friend. I’m his only best friend,” she said. “My brother can have a bestie if his wife allows it, but my husband can never have a female bestie.”

James also addressed the negative online comments she has faced, including claims that she allegedly “snatched” her husband from another woman—rumours she said once took a toll on her mental health.

Veekee James and Femi Atere got engaged in late 2023 and married on February 10, 2024.
