Verydarkman Slams EFCC Over 76-Year Sentence for N721k Theft, Demands Action on Politicians

Popular social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as Verydarkman (VDM), has publicly criticized the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the sentencing of a Nigerian man, Olukeye Adedayo, to 76 years in prison for stealing N721,000.

In a viral video posted on Saturday, VDM condemned what he called the “grossly disproportionate” punishment handed to Adedayo, contrasting it with the perceived leniency shown to high-profile politicians accused of looting billions.

“This is not justice. This is selective punishment,” VDM said, accusing the EFCC of targeting low-level offenders while ignoring politicians who allegedly embezzle public funds with impunity.

He specifically referenced the stalled corruption case involving former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, questioning why there has been no significant progress or conviction in that case.

“No politician has been sentenced in the last eight years. What exactly is the EFCC doing?” VDM asked, expressing concern over the future of Nigeria if systemic corruption continues unchecked.

The activist’s comments have sparked debate online, with many Nigerians echoing his concerns and demanding greater accountability from anti-graft agencies.

VDM called on the EFCC to redirect its focus toward prosecuting politically exposed persons and restoring public confidence in the justice system.

As calls for reform grow louder, the EFCC has yet to respond to the criticism.
