Veteran Nollywood Actor Tom Njemanze Dies After Battle With Prostate Cancer
Veteran Nollywood actor Tom Njemanze has died following a prolonged battle with prostate cancer.
His death was confirmed on Friday by film producer Stanley Ontop in an Instagram post, where he described Njemanze’s passing as “the loss of another Nollywood legend.”
“It’s another sad period as we just received news from Tom Njemanze’s family that he has succumbed to his ailment and passed on yesterday,” he wrote. “May his soul rest in peace. We tried to save him, but God knows best.”
Stanley had previously launched a public appeal for financial assistance to support the actor’s urgent surgery after revealing his health struggles.
Njemanze rose to fame in the 1990s and is remembered for his powerful performances in hit movies such as Tokunboh, Pounds and Dollars, Atosa, Issakaba, Osuofia in London, Brain Box, and Igbotic Love.
His death has sparked an outpouring of grief and tributes from fans and fellow actors, celebrating his legacy and impact on Nigerian cinema.
Njemanze’s passing comes just months after the death of actress Nkechi Nweje, who died in March due to complications from stomach surgery. She was laid to rest in Onitsha, Anambra State, in May.
