Veteran Yoruba Nollywood actress, popularly known as Iya Ile Okan, has passed away. The sad news was announced by actor and filmmaker Kunle Afod on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

Naija News reports that the actress’s death comes barely two months after Afod visited her at her residence in Ogun State, where she opened up about her declining health and struggles with medical expenses.

At the time, Afod shared a video of the visit on his Instagram page, writing, “Iya Ile Okan really needs God’s intervention.”

Confirming her passing in a heartfelt post, Afod wrote, “We finally lost her. May her perfect soul continue to rest in peace. Iya Ile Okan. It’s a final wrap.”

Kunle Afod, known for his charity visits to aging Nollywood veterans, had shown consistent support to Iya Ile Okan and several others in the industry.

The 51-year-old actor recently explained that he began sharing his charitable outreach publicly after turning 50, having quietly supported veteran actors for years. He said the decision was influenced by social media criticism that actors celebrated lavishly while neglecting the pioneers who built the industry.

Afod noted that making his visits public was a way to highlight the need to support elderly colleagues who had contributed greatly to Nollywood’s growth.

Fans and fellow actors have since taken to social media to mourn Iya Ile Okan’s death, describing her as a talented actress whose legacy will be remembered in the Yoruba film industry.
