VP Shettima Pays Private Visit to Buhari in London
Vice President Kashim Shettima has visited former President Muhammadu Buhari in London, where the former leader is currently receiving medical treatment.
According to sources cited by Daily Trust, Buhari was recently placed in intensive care but has since stabilized and is now recuperating.
Shettima reportedly traveled to London on the night of Sunday, June 29, and met with the former president on the morning of Monday, June 30. During the same trip, the Vice President also paid a visit to former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar.
When asked why the visits were not publicly disclosed, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), Stanley Nkwocha, confirmed that Shettima indeed traveled to London but clarified that it was a private visit.
“The Vice President was in London on a private trip,” Nkwocha said.
The visit has stirred quiet interest among political observers, though no official statement has been made regarding the nature of discussions held during the meetings.
