Warri-Itakpe Train Services Still Suspended, Says NRC
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced that train operations on the Warri-Itakpe route remain suspended.
NRC Managing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, confirmed the development in a statement issued Saturday in Lagos.
He recalled that full services on the Warri-Itakpe Train Services (WITS) were temporarily halted on April 10 due to technical and operational issues.
“The suspension remains in place to prioritise passenger safety, enhance customer experience, and improve operational efficiency,” Opeifa stated.
While noting that the major technical challenge has been resolved, he said additional time was required to establish system redundancies and address customer service procedures, equipment safety, and related matters.
Opeifa apologised to passengers, businesses, and stakeholders for the disruption and assured them that services would soon resume “bigger, stronger, and better.”
