Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has announced the completion of the 15-kilometre Apo-Wassa road, confirming it will be among key projects slated for inauguration to mark President Bola Tinubu’s second year in office.

Wike disclosed this on Saturday in Abuja during an inspection tour of ongoing projects scheduled for commissioning as part of activities commemorating Tinubu’s second anniversary at the end of May.

The project, a left wing service lane of the Outer Southern Expressway stretching from Ring Road I to Wassa Junction, was executed to ease traffic congestion and facilitate the development of Wassa District.

“This is one of them, OSEX to Wassa is also one of them; the Abuja International Conference Centre is another one. So many roads,” Wike said, listing several infrastructure projects targeted for completion and commissioning.

He commended the contractor, China Geo-Engineering Corporation (CGC), for sticking to its commitment of delivering the road before the end of May.

Wike also visited the N16 Interchange at NICON Junction and a major road linking Gishiri village to Maitama and Katampe Districts via Wole Soyinka Way. He expressed satisfaction with the pace of work, expressing optimism that they would be among the projects to be inaugurated.

“By next week, we will be able to provide all the projects that will be inaugurated to celebrate Tinubu’s second anniversary,” the minister added.

Highlighting other projects nearing completion, Wike mentioned the Phase I of Obafemi Awolowo Way (N5) from Life Camp Junction to Ring Road III, numerous roads across both satellite towns and central Abuja, and the long-awaited Greater Abuja Water Supply project.

“It will take us about two weeks to inaugurate most of our projects,” he noted.

Promising more people-centred development across the capital and its suburbs, Wike said that the administration would continue constructing roads, renovating schools, and improving security infrastructure.

He urged residents to safeguard public assets and commended them for their continued support.

“On our part, we will do everything we can to ensure that all facilities and infrastructure provided are protected,” Wike assured.
