Wike Reveals Senator Sponsoring Protests, Calls Emergency Meeting
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that a Senator is involved in sponsoring anti-government protests in Abuja.
This revelation followed a closed-door meeting with heads of security agencies and Area Council Chairmen on Thursday evening.
Wike cited intelligence reports linking the Senator to the protests, providing evidence of the lawmaker supplying food to the demonstrators.
“We have intelligence that the protesters are coming back with full force to destroy public properties. We also have intelligence that a Senator is sponsoring the protesters by providing them food,” Wike stated.
The Minister assured that security measures have been strengthened to prevent further violence, given credible intelligence suggesting protesters plan to increase their numbers and target public assets.
Wike emphasized that the government will not tolerate any disturbances to public peace or acts of lawlessness.
