Nigerian music heavyweights Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, and other top stars delivered electrifying performances at the Greater Lagos Countdown, held at the iconic Tafawa Balewa Square on New Year’s Eve.
The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture organized the event, which brought together thousands of music lovers to celebrate the arrival of 2025 with unforgettable performances and vibrant festivities.
The star-studded lineup included Niniola, Olamide, Adewale Ayuba, Runtown, Bnxn, Nice, Seyi Vibez, and others who kept the audience captivated with their exceptional talent and energy.
Wizkid had the crowd singing along to his hit tracks, showcasing his unmatched stage presence. Burna Boy’s energetic performance brought his signature passion to the night, while Tiwa Savage dazzled with her sultry vocals and dynamic stagecraft.
Niniola’s emotive set highlighted her powerful voice, and Fuji maestro Adewale Ayuba thrilled fans with nostalgic renditions of classics like Ejo and Ijo Fuji. Nice reignited the “Alapomeji” vibes with his timeless hits, drawing cheers from the crowd.
A lighthearted highlight of the evening was Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu joining host Gbenga Adeyinka to perform the popular “Oblee” dance, sparking cheers and laughter from the audience.
In his address, Governor Sanwo-Olu praised Lagosians for their resilience throughout 2024 and expressed optimism for the new year.
“This outgoing year has been one of tremendous opportunities and resilience for our youth. As we step into 2025, I believe it will be an even better year for every Lagosian,” he said, thanking residents for their support and participation in the government’s initiatives.
The Greater Lagos Countdown 2025 celebrations took place simultaneously in the five divisions of Lagos, ensuring widespread access to the festivities.
The event concluded with a breathtaking fireworks display, marking the start of a promising new year.
