Wolverhampton Wanderers celebrated a vital 2-0 victory over Southampton on Saturday, securing their first English Premier League win of the season and lifting themselves off the bottom of the table.
An early strike by Pablo Sarabia, set up by Matheus Cunha, marked Wolves’ fastest goal in Premier League history and set the tone for the match. The team also achieved their first clean sheet this season, while Southampton’s winless streak on the road extended with a ninth defeat in 11 games.
Despite dominating possession, Southampton’s attempts to equalize were thwarted, including a controversial VAR decision that ruled out a goal by Ryan Manning. Wolves doubled their lead in the second half as Cunha fired a powerful shot past England goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, sealing a much-needed three points.
The victory moves Wolves up to 18th place with six points, while Southampton remain at the bottom with four.
