A 37-year-old woman, Linda Stephen, has asked a Kaduna Customary Court to dissolve her marriage, citing her husband’s excessive sexual demands and alleged physical abuse.
In her petition on Tuesday, Linda, a resident of Ungwan Sunday in Kaduna, accused her husband, Felix Stephen, of forcing her into prolonged intimacy and assaulting her whenever she refused.
“I can no longer endure his excessive sexual urge. He demands sex from midnight till morning, even when I cry for him to stop,” she told the court.
She added that after moving out three months ago, her husband’s relatives had pleaded with her to return, unaware of her ordeal.
In response, Felix admitted to his actions but pleaded for reconciliation, assuring the court that he would control himself.
“I love my wife and have taken my uncles and friends to her family to beg her, but she walked out on us,” he said.
Presiding Judge John Dauda adjourned the case until May 6 for a reconciliation update, urging both parties to maintain peace.
