Yahaya Bello Intervenes as Judge Suspends Hearing Over Courtroom Disorder

0 1

Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello took control of a crowded courtroom at the FCT High Court on Wednesday after Justice Maryann Anenih abruptly suspended proceedings due to disorderly conduct by his supporters.

Justice Anenih, who arrived to preside over the arraignment of Bello and his co-defendants, walked out after expressing frustration over the overcrowding and noise, stating she would not return until calm was restored.

In response, Bello, seated at the front of the courtroom, rose to address the crowd. He directed his supporters and sympathizers to vacate the premises immediately. His firm intervention de-escalated the tension, with his followers quietly leaving the courtroom in compliance with his instructions.

To maintain order, the former governor positioned himself at the courtroom entrance, ensuring none of his supporters defied the judge’s directive.

The arraignment, involving a 16-count charge brought against Bello, is being led by the Federal Government’s legal team headed by Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, while Joseph Dauda, SAN, represents Bello.
