The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed confidence in clinching victory in the forthcoming Kaura Namoda South State Assembly bye-election.
The bye-election, scheduled for August 16, is being organized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to fill the vacant seat following the death of Hon. Aminu Kasuwar-Daji, who represented the constituency until his demise in April.
Speaking to journalists in Gusau on Wednesday, the APC Publicity Secretary in Zamfara, Yusuf Idris, said the party was optimistic about retaining the seat due to its overwhelming popularity in the area.
“You know, the six political wards under Kaura Namoda State Assembly constituency are fully dominated by APC members,” Idris said.
“As we all know, the late lawmaker, Aminu Kasuwar-Daji was elected under the platform of APC during the 2023 general elections. Therefore, it is our belief that the party will continue to retain the seat for Kaura Namoda South State Assembly constituency.”
Idris emphasized that the APC remains a dominant force in Zamfara politics, particularly in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area.
He called on party members to remain united and focused as the election approaches to ensure continued strength and cohesion within the party.
“We are optimistic that APC is ahead of any political party in Zamfara, therefore, we are certain of victory in the upcoming bye-election,” he added.
Meanwhile, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Kamilu Sa’idu has emerged as the APC candidate for the Kaura Namoda State Assembly seat.
