A 26-year-old woman, identified as Vainess Kanyama, has died after she was allegedly assaulted by her husband’s alleged lover in Kitwe, Zambia.
Kanyama, a resident of Kapoto Township, reportedly went to confront Christin Ntundwe on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, over an alleged affair involving her husband.
Her uncle, Derrick Bwalya, who confirmed the incident, said he received a call informing him that his niece had been found unconscious near a market.
Bwalya said he rushed to the scene and found Kanyama bleeding from the nose and unresponsive.
“I found my niece bleeding from the nose and she was unresponsive and when I attempted to take her to the hospital, I was told that she had already died,” he said.
According to him, the matter was subsequently reported to the police.
Bwalya said Kanyama had been living with her husband in the same area before she decided to confront Ntundwe, who also resides in Kapoto Township.
He added that one of Kanyama’s daughters, who was with her at the time, reportedly rushed home to alert relatives after finding her mother unconscious.
The family later buried Kanyama on Friday following a post-mortem examination, which reportedly found that she died from blood clots on both sides of the brain.
Bwalya said the family is demanding justice and urged the authorities to ensure that the circumstances surrounding Kanyama’s death are fully investigated.
He also appealed to the deceased’s husband to cooperate with the police in efforts to locate Ntundwe, who is reportedly on the run.
Kanyama is survived by three children, the youngest of whom is five years old.
