Nigerian music sensations Wizkid and Davido have been honored at the 2025 NAACP Image Awards, further solidifying their international acclaim.
Wizkid secured the award for ‘Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration’ for his collaboration with Brent Faiyaz. This achievement marks his sixth NAACP Image Award, making him the most awarded Nigerian artist in the event’s history.
Davido was recognized in the ‘Outstanding International Song’ category for his collaboration with Chris Brown.
The NAACP Image Awards, organized by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, celebrate outstanding achievements by people of color in the arts and media. The 56th edition, hosted by actor-comedian Deon Cole, took place on February 22, 2025, at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles.
Other notable winners included Keke Palmer, who was named Entertainer of the Year, and Taraji P. Henson, who received awards for supporting actress and her children’s book. Special honors were bestowed upon Kamala Harris, Dave Chappelle, and the Wayans family for their significant contributions to their respective fields.
Despite nominations, Nigerian artists Tems and Burna Boy did not secure wins in their categories this year.
