Nigeria and Belgium are strengthening economic ties to enhance food security, Finance Minister Wale Edun said Tuesday.
According to a statement by Mr. Mohammed Manga, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry of Finance, Edun met with Belgian Ambassador Pieter Leenknegt to discuss cooperation in agriculture and food security.
During the meeting, Edun highlighted Nigeria’s improving economy, declining inflation, price stability, and growing national savings. He also emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting farmers through sustainable policies to boost agricultural productivity.
The finance minister reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to key macroeconomic reforms.
Leenknegt, in his remarks, expressed Belgium’s interest in deepening economic relations with Nigeria for mutual benefit.
“This meeting marks a significant step in strengthening ties between both nations, and we will continue exploring opportunities for cooperation,” the Belgian envoy was quoted as saying.
