“China Expands IP Network to 73 Centers, Boosting Industrial Growth”
China has expanded its network of Intellectual Property (IP) protection centers to a total of 73, according to new data from the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) released on Thursday.
These centers, which play a crucial role in safeguarding and enforcing IP rights, are now spread across 28 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, with two new centers located in the southern province of Hainan.
The CNIPA has recently greenlit the establishment of a national IP protection center in Haikou, the capital of Hainan Province. This center will focus on rapid and coordinated IP protection efforts, particularly in the equipment manufacturing and biopharmaceutical sectors.
Haikou has attracted significant investments from research institutions and high-tech enterprises, leading to substantial growth in these industries. In 2023, their combined output value in the city surpassed 40 billion yuan (approximately 5.6 billion dollars).
An official from the CNIPA noted, “The establishment of this IP protection center will further strengthen the competitiveness of Haikou’s specialized industries, both domestically and internationally.”
