Two Russian tourists lost their lives while scuba diving near Verde Island, south of Manila, Philippines. The incident occurred when strong undercurrents swept the divers away during their expedition.
One victim is believed to have drowned, while the other suffered a fatal shark attack. Two other Russian divers managed to return safely to their boat.
The group, accompanied by a Filipino dive instructor, had departed from Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro province for the dive.
An investigation into the incident is underway, with authorities planning discussions to enhance safety measures at popular dive sites like Verde Island.
