Paris Paralympics Ticket Sales Reach Half, 18 Days Before Event

With just over two weeks remaining until the Paris Paralympic Games, only half of the available tickets have been sold, according to organizers. The event, scheduled from August 28 to September 8, has seen a surge in ticket sales, though concerns remain about filling venues as the opening date approaches.

Tony Estanguet, chief of Paris 2024, addressed the issue during a news conference, expressing satisfaction with the current sales figures. He noted that the rate of ticket purchases for the Paralympics has increased fivefold since the start of the Olympic Games, which concludes this Sunday.

Despite the slower pace of Paralympics ticket sales, Estanguet highlighted the overall success of the Olympic Games, where 9.5 million out of nearly 10 million tickets were sold, setting a new record in the history of the Games. The Olympics also saw unprecedented popularity in women’s team sports, with over 66,000 spectators attending rugby sevens at the Stade de France and 27,000 fans watching basketball in Lille.

Organizers remain optimistic that ticket sales for the Paralympics will continue to climb as the event draws nearer, with more than three million tickets already sold.
