Executives from global tech giants Google, Amazon, and Microsoft will participate in the inaugural Enugu Tech Festival (ETF), the Enugu State Government has announced.

The four-day festival, themed “COAL to CODE,” is scheduled to take place from May 6 to May 9, 2025, at the International Conference Centre, Enugu.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Dr. Lawrence Ezeh, Commissioner for Innovation, Science, and Technology, said the festival aims to transform Enugu into a major tech hub in West Africa by fostering innovation, supporting startups, and inspiring young professionals.

A collaboration between the Enugu State Tech and Startup Ecosystem and the Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology, the event is expected to attract 10,000 participants, including tech investors, startup founders, students, and policymakers.

“Enugu ranks among Nigeria’s top five states for tech innovation. With over 100 active startups and thousands of tech professionals, ETF will strengthen the state’s role in Nigeria’s digital economy,” Ezeh said.

The festival will feature panel discussions, networking sessions, exhibitions, and a town hall meeting with key stakeholders, including heads of tertiary institutions, to discuss tech education and industry growth.

A highlight of the event will be the unveiling of the West Africa Stargate (WASGate) initiative, a major project aimed at positioning Enugu as a Silicon Valley-like tech hub in the region.

Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and other industry leaders will deliver keynote addresses on technology, innovation, and startup funding, while investors will offer insights on securing funding for early-stage startups.

Specialized panel sessions will cover blockchain, property tech, and hardware innovations, reflecting Enugu’s growing presence in Africa’s tech landscape.
