Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, has recorded a $53.9 billion decline in his estimated net worth in one week, bringing his fortune down to $849.7 billion.

The latest figures, published by Forbes’ Real-Time Billionaires List on Sunday, November 8, 2026, indicate that the billionaire’s wealth dropped by approximately 5.97 per cent within seven days.

According to Nairametrics, Musk’s fortune fell from an estimated $903.6 billion a week earlier to $849.7 billion, amid volatility in technology stocks and changing investor sentiment.

The decline highlights the fluctuations in the wealth of billionaires whose fortunes are largely tied to company valuations and stock market performance.

Musk’s wealth is primarily linked to his stakes in Tesla, SpaceX and other business ventures.

Musk Remains World’s Richest Person

Despite the substantial loss, Musk continues to hold the top position among the world’s wealthiest individuals.

His estimated net worth of $849.7 billion places him significantly ahead of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, whose fortune stands at approximately $378.1 billion.

Google co-founder Larry Page ranks third with an estimated $236.9 billion, followed by Sergey Brin at $218.1 billion and Meta Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg at $209.7 billion.

Musk’s fortune remains subject to significant changes as investors reassess the valuations of companies operating in artificial intelligence, electric vehicles and space exploration.

Musk’s Fortune Records Major Swings

The latest decline follows a period of substantial gains and losses in Musk’s wealth.

On October 21, his fortune reportedly increased by $88 billion in a single day, pushing his estimated net worth to $1.013 trillion. The surge was attributed to renewed investor optimism surrounding SpaceX’s financial performance and expectations ahead of Tesla’s quarterly earnings announcement.

Musk has also experienced significant losses in previous months, including a reported $45.3 billion decline following a setback involving SpaceX’s Starship launch programme.

The latest figures underscore the volatility of Musk’s wealth and the influence of market movements on the fortunes of the world’s richest individuals.
