Zamfara Security Guards Arrest Man Allegedly Supplying Soft Drinks to Bandits
Community Protection Guards in Zamfara State have arrested a suspect, identified as Ashiru Jijji, for allegedly supplying soft drinks and other consumables to armed bandits operating in the region.
The arrest occurred during a routine patrol in a bandit-prone area of the state, a security source told reporters under condition of anonymity. According to the source, Jijji was intercepted while transporting several cartons of soft drinks and other supplies intended for delivery to criminal hideouts in remote forest areas.
“We caught him in the act while he was transporting the items. During questioning, he admitted that the supplies were meant for a group of bandits he frequently serves,” the source said.
Jijji is currently in custody and will be transferred to the appropriate security agencies for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The incident highlights ongoing efforts by local security outfits in Zamfara to cut off support networks that aid armed groups destabilizing the region.
