The law firm of Olisa Agbakoba Legal (OAL), solicitors to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has expressed strong interest in uncovering the truth surrounding the sexual harassment allegation made against its client by suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Speaking during a press conference in Lagos on Tuesday, Senior Partner at OAL and renowned human rights advocate, Dr. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), emphasized the seriousness of the claim and the need for a sensitive yet objective approach.

“Allegation of sexual harassment is a serious matter that deserves careful handling,” Agbakoba stated. “We acknowledge the difficulty faced by anyone making such an allegation and the importance of treating all parties with dignity.”

He noted that OAL accepted the brief with a conciliatory mindset, stressing his personal awareness of the weight of such issues. “I have three daughters and, so, understand the gravity of sexual harassment,” he said. “I am ready to meet with Akpoti-Uduaghan and her lawyers on the issue.”

Agbakoba made it clear that the firm’s focus is strictly on the legal dimensions of the allegation. “Sexual harassment allegations, particularly in governance institutions, require careful handling not only for the parties involved but also for the integrity of our democratic institutions,” he explained.

He further called for the matter to be addressed through formal institutional channels, rather than through the media. “Sexual harassment is serious. Also is presumption of innocence. Let the facts lead, not sentiment,” he concluded.

The allegation, first reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), has stirred public discourse, and OAL’s involvement signals a potentially pivotal legal showdown in the coming days.
