Tinubu Hails Emir of Ilorin at 85, Praises His Role in Nation-Building

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the Emir of Ilorin, on the occasion of his 85th birthday.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his spokesman, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President extolled the virtues of the royal father, describing him as a strong advocate of unity, peace, and national progress.

Tinubu lauded the Emir, who also serves as the Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers, for his unwavering dedication to the nation over the years.

He particularly acknowledged the monarch’s service as Chancellor of both Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, describing his contributions as exemplary.

Sulu-Gambari, a former Justice of the Court of Appeal, was also the pioneer Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice in the old Gongola State.

Called to the Bar in 1968, he was appointed a High Court judge in Borno State in 1977 and elevated to the Court of Appeal in 1983.

“President Tinubu joins the Emir’s family, the Ilorin Emirate, and the people of Kwara State to celebrate the royal father on this milestone,” the statement said.

“He prayed that God Almighty will grant the Emir renewed strength and good health to enjoy many more peaceful and impactful years on the throne,” it added.
