Former Chelsea star John Obi Mikel has voiced his hopes that Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen will make a move to the English Premier League, preferably to his former club, Chelsea.

Speaking during a chat on beIN SPORTS’ Soccer Sunday Live, Mikel responded to reports linking Osimhen with a potential transfer to Manchester United. He expressed doubts about United’s chances of landing the striker if they fail to qualify for European competition.

“If that’s the case, then he doesn’t go to United,” Mikel said when asked if a club outside European football could realistically sign Osimhen.

Mikel disclosed that the Napoli striker, who is currently on loan at Turkish champions Galatasaray, has a strong desire to join Chelsea. However, he acknowledged that the final decision lies with the player and his representatives.

“I hope somewhere in the Premier League,” he said. “I don’t know; we wait and see.”

The ex-midfielder also revealed progress had been made in previous transfer talks with Chelsea. “I know where we stopped in terms of the contract, I know where we are,” Mikel said. “It’s an easy fix. We did all the hard work last summer. It’s so easy to just pick it up.”

Osimhen has been in top form for Galatasaray this season, netting 21 goals and providing four assists in 25 league appearances.
