A 21-year-old Algerian man injured seven people in a knife attack at a refugee accommodation centre in east Berlin, authorities reported on Wednesday. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening in the Marzahn district of Berlin.
Among those injured were a 15-year-old, a security guard, and a visitor at the centre. Paramedics and emergency doctors arrived promptly, treating the victims for cuts and stab wounds before transporting them to a hospital. Fortunately, none of the injuries were life-threatening.
The suspect, who was also injured during the incident, is currently in custody. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, according to a police spokeswoman.
The injured security guard and visitor are German citizens, while the other five victims are from Moldova. The investigation into the incident is ongoing as authorities work to determine the cause of the attack.
