A prosecution witness in the ongoing trial of the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has disclosed that Simon Ekpa, a known supporter of the Biafra agitation, will soon be extradited from Finland to Nigeria to face trial.

The witness, identified as PW-AAA for security reasons, made the revelation on Friday while testifying before Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja. PW-AAA, a Department of State Services (DSS) operative, had earlier been involved in the 2015 arrest of Kanu at a hotel in Lagos.

During cross-examination by Kanu’s lead counsel, Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN), PW-AAA said, “Simon Ekpa would soon be brought from Finland to Nigeria to face trial for supporting Nnamdi Kanu in the agitation for Republic of Biafra.”

Meanwhile, the Federal Government tendered additional items allegedly recovered from Kanu, which were admitted as exhibits by the court.

The items include one black laptop, two multi mix transmitters, a mini white Apple iPad with a pouch, a grey Apple iPad with a pouch, a grey MacBook with a pouch, a grey MacBook with a case, a mini drone sound wave speaker, and two mini white speakers. Other gadgets tendered include a large computer mouse, a white adaptor, a laptop adaptor, a carton bag containing a laptop, two 3G modems, two Glo modems, a Glo Hawaii modem, an MTN modem, an Etisalat modem, a flash drive, and a camcorder.

Also admitted were a hand recorder in a black pouch, a MacBook Pro adaptor, a mic stand, a Phillips headphone, a Sharp radio mic with cord, a Pro Sound mic with cord, a 4G LTE modem, a bunch of cards, a power adaptor for mixer, an Easy Blaze white modem, a Samsung phone, a black Motorola phone, and a Nokia phone.

The court also received as evidence a black Samsung phone, a black phone, a D-Link black modem, an 8GB flash drive, an extension wire adaptor, a pair of shoes, a belt, a pair of Ciderwood sneakers, and a footwear item.

Further personal items included a black Softech wristwatch, two singlets, a sealed Hermes perfume, a Trinket, a Pokham perfume, a Fredrick Peckham wristwatch, a Diesel wristwatch, an Alexander Christy collection wristwatch, a Club wristwatch, several bank MasterCards, a copy of an IPOB complimentary card, documents tagged “IPOB,” a white clipper, a bottle of medicine, an Oman perfume, mini scented oils, an empty black purse, a Nigerian passport bearing the name Okwu Kanu Nwannekaibeya Nnamdi Ngozichukwu, and a British passport with the name Okwu Kanu Nwannekaibeya. Others included a black purse, a passport holder, a card holder, a box of Rocarden wristwatch, and four bundles of cords.

During his testimony, PW-AAA admitted that no weapons were found on Kanu during his arrest in Lagos, nor were any recovered from the lady arrested alongside him.

He added, “Though the recovered items might not be ordinarily offensive, the intention of the defendant might be otherwise.”

The witness also clarified that he did not personally analyze any of the seized items. “My mandate was to effect arrest and obtain statement from Kanu,” he told the court.

Justice Omotosho adjourned the matter until May 6, 7, and 8 for continuation of cross-examination.
