Nigerian comedian and former Big Brother Naija housemate, Aderombi Adedayo Martin, popularly known as Deeone, has taken a swipe at nightlife entrepreneur Pascal Okechukwu, aka Cubana Chiefpriest, over a viral photo showing him kneeling before Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The image, which surfaced online following Chiefpriest’s visit to the Vice President, stirred a wave of mixed reactions on social media. While some praised the gesture as respectful, others, including Deeone, condemned it.

Reacting in a video, Deeone accused Cubana Chiefpriest of dishonoring and betraying Igbo cultural values by kneeling. He described the act as shameful and unbefitting of an Igbo man, especially one regarded as an influential public figure.

“Cubana Chiefpriest kneeling for the Vice President is a disgrace to Igbo culture,” Deeone said. “That’s not how we show respect. We don’t kneel — it’s not in our tradition.”

The backlash has since sparked broader debates among netizens, with fans flooding comment sections to share their own views. While many applauded Deeone for defending cultural pride, others argued that showing humility — regardless of cultural background — is a sign of good character.

The incident continues to trend online, fueling conversations about cultural representation, respect, and the expectations placed on public figures.
