As part of this year’s Children’s Day celebration, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Anambra State Chapter, has called on government and other stakeholders to forge stronger partnerships aimed at improving children’s education and overall development.
Speaking during the celebration in Awka on Tuesday, the Chairperson of the Association, Mrs. Tochukwu Ifejirka, emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in ensuring that children are given the foundation they need to thrive.
“Children are a divine heritage,” Ifejirka said. “Parents, government and caregivers need to make their day memorable.”
She noted that this year’s Children’s Day theme, “Enhancing the Total Wellbeing of Children Through Quality Education and Skill Development,” would only be meaningful if all parties commit to its actualization.
“This celebration will only be memorable if we all partner to make this year’s theme achievable,” she said.
Reaffirming NAWOJ’s commitment to children’s educational advancement, Ifejirka expressed the Association’s readiness to work with stakeholders to unlock the potential of Nigerian children.
“We therefore invite all other stakeholders who have roles to play towards tapping these untapped natural treasures and enhancing their total wellbeing through quality education and skill development of our readiness to partner them to make it a reality,” she said.
She further urged stakeholders to ensure that children are intentionally placed on platforms that nurture their dreams and capabilities.
“Let’s make them grow from little footsteps to a great future, let their laughter, little wins and achievements remind us of how it used to be and spur us to intentionally position them on higher pedestals,” she added.
In her goodwill message, Ifejirka also called on parents to remain vigilant and protective of their children’s rights.
“We urge parents to always keep closer watch over them and ensure that their liberty and dignity are in check,” she said.
She concluded by extending warm wishes to children across the globe: “We wish our children and indeed children all over the world a happy Children’s Day.”
