Police Arrest Woman Smuggling AK-47, Magazines Hidden in Garri Sack
A 30-year-old woman, Hauwa Yusuf, has been arrested by the Special Tactical Squad (STS) for attempting to smuggle an AK-47 rifle and four magazines hidden inside a sack of garri. The arrest occurred during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.
Force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, while addressing the media at the STS headquarters in Abuja on Friday, disclosed that Yusuf confessed to being sent by Aminu Basullube, a notorious bandit operating in Katsina State.
According to Adejobi, on August 14, 2024, STS operatives, acting on intelligence, intercepted a Sienna bus traveling from Lafia, Nasarawa State to Katsina State. During the search, they discovered the concealed weapons inside the sack of garri.
During interrogation, Yusuf admitted that she was instructed by Basullube to deliver the arms to the Danum Madam Camp in Katsina State.
