Ronaldo: Ballon d’Or Should Go to Champions League Winner
Cristiano Ronaldo says the Ballon d’Or should be awarded to a player whose team won the UEFA Champions League.
The 40-year-old Al Nassr forward made the statement while speaking to reporters ahead of the UEFA Nations League final between Portugal and Spain, scheduled for Sunday in Munich.
“In my opinion, whoever wins it should be on a team that has won trophies,” Ronaldo said. “The Ballon d’Or winner should be in a team that has won the Champions League.”
Established in 1956 by France Football magazine, the Ballon d’Or is awarded annually to the player judged to have delivered the best performances over the previous season.
