Troops Eliminate Two Bandits in Zamfara, Secure Region
Troops from the 1 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have successfully eliminated two bandits in a fierce encounter at Unguwar Sarkin Musulmi in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, Zamfara State.
The operation, conducted under the directives of the Commander of 1 Brigade and Sector 1 Joint Task Force in North-West “Operation Hadarin Daji” (OPHD), was detailed in a statement released by Lt. Sulaiman Omale, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, on Sunday in Gusau.
On August 16, 2024, the troops, responding to credible intelligence on extremist activities, engaged the bandits in a gunfight. The encounter led to the neutralization of two armed extremists, while the remaining criminals fled the scene.
A subsequent mop-up operation resulted in the recovery of an operational motorcycle belonging to the bandits. The area has since been secured, with troops maintaining a strong presence and conducting patrols to ensure the safety of the local population.
“This success underscores the ongoing commitment of Operation Hadarin Daji to eradicate banditry and restore peace to Zamfara and the North-West region,” Lt. Omale stated.
