Iran Strikes Tel Aviv, Haifa With Missiles Amid Escalating Conflict
Iranian missiles slammed into Israel’s Tel Aviv and the northern port city of Haifa on Monday, killing at least three people and injuring dozens more, in what Tehran described as a “new method” of retaliation.
The missile barrage, which destroyed residential buildings and sparked fires at key infrastructure sites, comes in response to Israeli airstrikes launched Friday against Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile facilities.
Israel’s national emergency service confirmed three fatalities in central parts of the country, while emergency crews in Haifa reported at least 30 injuries and ongoing search-and-rescue operations. Fires erupted at a power plant near Haifa’s port, further fueling concerns about damage to vital services.
The attacks have intensified international alarm, particularly among leaders gathered for the Group of Seven (G7) summit, who fear the escalating hostilities between the two long-standing adversaries could spiral into a wider regional war.
This marks one of the most significant direct strikes by Iran on Israeli territory in recent years, signaling a sharp shift in the nature of the confrontation between the two nations.
