The Dangote Refinery has raised its ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, to N850 per litre, up from the previous price of N820, representing a N30 increase.
This was confirmed by the National President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Abubakar Maigandi, during an interview on Friday.
“The new ex-depot price of petrol at the refinery is N850 per litre,” Maigandi stated, adding that the refinery has resumed sales of petrol after a temporary suspension last week.
The new price means that marketers and retailers will now pay more to lift products from the 650,000-barrel-per-day facility, potentially translating to higher pump prices for consumers.
In Abuja, pump prices had already surged over the past few days. Between last weekend and Monday, some filling stations, including those operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.), reportedly sold petrol for as high as N955 per litre before dropping to N900.
Others, such as Ranoil, AA Rano, and Empire Energy, are currently dispensing petrol at between N950 and N955 per litre in the Federal Capital Territory.
